Joey Frances
Joey Frances is a poet living in Manchester. His first full poetry collection, a l’instar de, was published by Knives Forks and Spoons press in 2016. As well as organising and collaborating with Generic Greeting, he co-organises the Manchester-based poetry reading series Peter Barlow’s Cigarette, and co-organised the poetry festival Poetry Emergency in 2018. He is currently undertaking a PhD at the University of Salford on contemporary innovative poetry and ideological resistance.
Joey’s writing wishes despite itself to offer ideas of resistance, to maintain a naïve belief that there might be some worth in voicing incoherent yowls for kinder relations. He is interested in collaboration, with other poets, and also across disciplines, attempting to put his work in contexts that aren’t poetry’s traditional home.
