Generic Mix #22: Greetings from Jupiter - A mix by Jack Sheen
The latest Generic Mix highlights one of the ways Generic Greeting collaborates. Greetings From Jupiter is part of a much larger project - award winning filmmaker George Haydock’s film Jupiter. Jupiter is currently in selection for a number of film festivals worldwide but its soundtrack by composer and conductor Jack Sheen is being released by GG’s musical arm Infinite Scroll this month.
The mix should be seen as companion piece to the film’s OST and is best described in Jack’s own words:
“This mix was really about me collating some of the influences on 'Jupiter OST', either consciously or (perhaps) unconsciously, as some of these tracks I just love and was listening to a lot at the time. There’s lots of experimental and improvised music in there, electronic, orchestral and chamber music, and some vaguely dance-floor orientated moments. In that stylistic sense it’s incredibly incoherent, but hopefully - like the record itself - its overall shape holds it together, and the aesthetic and functional juxtapositions create quite a playful vibe.”.
Undoubtedly one of the most diverse and ambitious mixes we’ve had the pleasure of hosting, Greetings from Jupiter is a listening experience quite unlike anything else you’re likely to hear.
Jupiter OST will be released on 21/09 by Infinite Scroll on double A-side cassette.
The artwork to film is by Will Berry who has created an edited version for this mix.
