Generic Mix #21: Greetings From Samrai

We're blessed to have a mix from of Manchester's finest DJ's for the latest instalment in the Generic Mix series.

Samrai’s best known as the co-founder of Swing Ting which he started around six years ago alongside Platt. After a few years of being stationed at various clubs across the city, has settled in the basement at Soup Kitchen since 2011. The night itself needs little introduction to those familiar with the UK clubbing landscape but for the uninitiated Swing Ting plays street sounds with a global outlook without ever sounding superficial.

For this mix however Bal's gone for a selection much more suitable for listening to on the Sunday's after the night before than what you're likely to hear in his club sets. Or in his own words: 'a mix of personal favourites that help me unwind and transition from the day and provide a soundtrack for cookery'.

The artwork has been created by a relatively new member of the collective - Rose Miller. Rose works across a variety of mediums and is as comfortable drawing as she is making puppets. The artwork was made by hand and combines two of her interests - nature and embroidery. Check out more of her work at the links below.
