Alex Macdougall

Alex is based in Manchester. His main contribution to the collective is with his photography. For a long time, his focus has centred on experimenting with analogue film, and creating double exposures of architecture across the UK and abroad. After originally working solely with black and white darkroom processes, a recent shift has been towards using colour, and exploring how layering images in-camera can create textural and geometric effects that are unique to film. Another recent interest is zeroing in on small aspects of a negative to reveal how grain organically simplifies detail, and renders an image with almost sketched or illustrated qualities.
Alex also produces music under the name No Arms.
